Will Smith considers Annie remake with daughter Willow and Jay-Z

Last summer's surprise hit, The Karate Kid, was an 80s remake produced by Will Smith and starring one of his offspring, Jaden. Now Smith is said to be exploring the possibility of shooting a remake of the 1982 musical Annie, starring his daughter, Willow, in the title role. There has been no confirmation whether the film will be a contemporary take on the classic, but Willow's recent chart success, as well as the reported involvement of Jay-Z, who signed Willow to his record label, suggests songs from the original musical may have an R&B revamp. Jay-Z is presumably already familiar with the original film after sampling the song It's the Hard Knock Life on his smash 1998 single Hard Knock Life. Smith himself has not been seen on the big screen since 2008's Seven Pounds, but recently finished shooting the latest project from the Wachowski brothers, and is currently filming the third Men in Black movie.
