Sturgeon reappoints National Services Scotland chair

Nicola Sturgeon, the Scottish health secretary, announced a four year extension to Matthew's part time job chairing NSS, the organisation which runs central services for the country's health service. These include IT, screening and specialist services, legal and counter fraud work, and the Scotland National Blood Transfusion Service. Matthews, a former senior executive with Motorola in Scotland, works as a management consultant, as an independent member of the Scottish Police Services Authority Board and a member of the Security Industry Authority's board. "Mr Bill Matthews is extremely committed to public service and has demonstrated a clear understanding of the issues being faced within NHS Scotland," said Sturgeon. "His wealth of experience and knowledge has been invaluable to the board and I look forward to continuing to work together with him in the vital task of improving the health of the people of Scotland." The NSS job pays £24,960 for three days' work a week.
