It's the curse of The Wire!
Dominic West Jack the lad Jimmy McNulty, real Po-lice Post Wire Appeared in CGI-fest 300 and BBC drama Breaking The Mould. Ruined it all by outing himself as an old Etonian, revealing that he used to hang out with Sam Cam and endorsing David Cameron. Then Toby Young described him as a "genuinely cool famous person". Not any more, pal. Michael K Williams Omar, much-loved gangster with a neat line in street wisdom. Post Wire A blink-and-you'll-miss-it spot in The Incredible Hulk, bit parts in CSI and Law & Order and then a 120-second role in The Road, in which he stole from a small child, was stripped and sent packing. Less Omar comin', more Omar long gone. Idris Elba Stringer Bell Post Wire Guest starred brilliantly in the US Office. Then played a chap called Derek opposite Beyoncé in the dumb-com Obsessed, a cockney in Guy Ritchie's RocknRolla (what else?) and now is moody cop in the BBC's lacklustre Luther. Not forgetting his pitiful rap release as Big Driis. Hassan Johnson Wee-bay, one of Marlo's right-hand men Post Wire Plays random gang member in next month's Brooklyn's Finest, a stereotype role that The Wire was supposed to have rescued black actors from. As is Tristan Wilds in 90210, while Sonja Sohn is in Brothers and Sisters as a possible surrogate mother for Calista Flockhart. Oh dear.
