Aaron Ramsey says he is on track to return for Arsenal next month

Aaron Ramsey is confident he will play his comeback game for Arsenal by the end of next month, as he enters the final phase of his rehabilitation from the career-threatening injury that he suffered at Stoke City on 27 February. The Wales midfielder fractured the fibula and tibia of his right leg in a challenge with the Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross and he was ruled out for around nine months. Ramsey, 19, is striving to "get a bit of spring back in my right leg" but he has taken heart from having escaped the gym for fitness sessions in the open air at Arsenal's London Colney training centre and he has also now incorporated some work with the ball. "I think I'm on track, the target is November time," Ramsey said. "I'm just doing my pre-season work now, trying to get a bit of spring back in my right leg, but apart from that all is going well so far. I've been doing strengthening exercises for a long time now and I'm starting to feel the benefits. I'm now outside training with the fitness coach and I feel good. "I'm doing a little bit of ball work around mannequins and it feels great to be back outside, kicking the ball around again. I hate being in the gym. That's the worst bit about this. It's much better to be out in the air with a ball or even just running, I don't mind that. I just want to be out of the building." Arsène Wenger knows from previous experience of players who have suffered from horrendous injuries that the mental scars can take even longer to heal. Discussing Ramsey's case towards the end of last season, the Arsenal manager said: "You never know what the psychological impact on your future game will be." He continued: "Some players are never the same any more. They lose that freedom to go into the challenges." Wenger, though, believes that Ramsey is a "tough boy" and the player himself feels that his determination has been fired further by his long-term absence. "I'm a very motivated guy and I've missed it a lot," Ramsey told Arsenal TV Online. "It's made me realise how much it means to me and I just want to get back out there and start doing what I used to do."
