Help! Money's very tight this Christmas

Every week a Guardian Money reader submits a question, and it's up to you to help him or her out – a selection of the best answers will appear in next Saturday's paper. This week's question: Three months ago my husband lost his job and I only work part time. Our two children are already preparing lists for Santa, and are convinced they are getting a Nintendo Wii for Christmas. How are we going to get through this, given that Santa's probably not coming this year? What are your thoughts?
