Glee creator denies film rumours

The creator of Glee, the hugely successful US TV show about the members of an Ohio high school show choir, has denied reports that a big-screen transfer is imminent. Gossip site perezhilton.com reported yesterday that all the main cast members of the series had clauses in their contract committing them to up to three full-length films. However, Ryan Murphy told Entertainment Weekly that such talk was premature. "There will be no Glee movie in the foreseeable future," he said. "Despite overtures, I and the studio (Fox) have decided we want to put our energy into the second season with no distractions for the cast." According to perezhilton.com, the clause in Glee personnel's contracts reads: "[The actor] hereby grants Fox three exclusive, irrevocable options to engage [the actor] in up to, respectively, three feature-length motion pictures." Glee, which is shown on E4 in the UK, has already been picked up for a third series by Fox, though only one season has so far been aired.
