Public projects take IT prizes

St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals picked up the award for its Shift to Online Patient Records project. The judges said the trust had successfully managed a transition from paper to electronic records, and described the project as a "superb example of a change process". Other public sector bodies were among the winners of the awards, organised by the British Computer Society and Computing: NYNet and North Yorkshire CC won the community project of the year award for its Community Broadband Project; Devon CC's Car Park Management System, supplied by MSM Software, was named environmental project of the year; and LB Southwark and Vangent won the IT project team prize for their Radical Website Improvement Programme.
