Patrick Vieira to stay at Manchester City next season

Manchester City have confirmed that midfielder Patrick Vieira has signed a one-year contract extension with the club. The 33-year-old France international joined City from Internazionale on a six-month deal in January and he has now chosen to take up the option of another year with Roberto Mancini's side. The former Arsenal player made 14 appearances for City last season, scoring his only goal in the 6-1 thrashing of Burnley at Turf Moor. After four years at Inter, Vieira had returned to the Premier League in an unsuccessful bid to make France's World Cup 2010 squad. Vieira has previously played for Cannes, Milan and Juventus and spent nine years at Arsenal, where he won three Premier Leagues and four FA Cups. Though born in Senegal he appeared 107 times for France, winning the 1998 World Cup and the European Championship two years later.
