Channel 4 technology director Jon Gisby departs

Jon Gisby, Channel 4's director of future media and technology, is leaving as part of the broadcaster's plans to cut the size of its senior management team by 25% . Gisby ends a three-year stint at Channel 4, joining in 2007 as its first dedicated new media director. Under his stewardship, Channel 4 launched 4iP , an investment fund that has gone on to fund innovations from more than a thousand digital entrepreneurs. Last year Gisby was paid £318,000. His responsibilities are now to be shared between the new chief creative officer's team and a new director of audience technologies and insight. "It has been a pleasure and privilege to lead some of the most talented and passionate teams in the industry to deliver great services and commercial success," Gisby said. Gisby, who was formerly vice president of communications for Yahoo Europe, was instrumental in the launch of Channel 4's video-on-demand service 4OD, and went on to form a three-year partnership with YouTube which sees much of the broadcaster's content hosted in full on the video-sharing site. New Channel 4 chief executive David Abraham announced plans last month to 25% of its 48 senior managers as part of his strategic review. • To contact the MediaGuardian news desk email [email protected] or phone 020 3353 3857.
