The Donmar's new don

By announcing his departure from the Donmar Warehouse earlier this month , Michael Grandage has left open one of the plum jobs in British theatre – though, with cuts on their way, it is moot whether running a building will be quite as fun as it once was. Who will take over? Names being mentioned include Marianne Elliott , who is an associate director at the National Theatre and co-directed War Horse; Thea Sharrock , who cut her teeth when, aged 24, she became artistic director of Southwark Playhouse; and actor-director Sam West , who was Grandage's successor at Sheffield theatres.
