Capital creates councillors' website

Capital Ambition launched London Councillors on 1 June 2010 to provide a social networking forum for elected members. A spokesperson for the organisation told GC News that, while the initial purpose of the site is to help newly elected councillors get used to the job, it plans to extend it in the long term to become a peer to peer network for exchanging advice. It is accessible with a personal log-in that has been sent to all councillors and enables them to take part in discussions, post articles, start topics and upload documents and video clips. There are also areas closed to specific political groups. "Any information on their profiles is up to the individual councillors," the spokesperson said. "It's like a councillors' Facebook." She added that the information on the site will be contained to advice and will not include anything that is confidential.
