Michael White's Conference Daily: Vince Cable attacks 'City spivs'

On the final day of the Liberal Democrats' annual party conference in Liverpool, the business secretary, Vince Cable , told delegates that competition rules needed to be reformed - and that he still supported a tax on mansions. The speech went down well with delegates in the hall and Cable remains one of the party's most popular figures. Simon Hughes , deputy leader of the Lib Dems, endorsed the business secretary's words. He tells us he had no regrets about joining up with the Tories.
