Big Boi: Sir Luscious Left Foot... The Son of Chico Dusty

OutKast's last album proper was composed of two tremendous solo albums, Big Boi's Speakerboxxx and Andre 3000's The Love Below ; each OutKast subsequently spent valuable interview time denying a rift. Their trial separation looks ever more permanent with this release. Repeatedly delayed, this Big Boi solo outing feels precisely like it has been drifting around for a while, waiting for momentum. "Shutterbug" is just that gust of wind – a nimble electro-soul track that sounds like Gorillaz with better opposable thumbs. And while Luscious doesn't rise to any more big occasions, it is consistently inventive and easy on the ear.
