Nominations for Christmas charity appeal now closed

Nominations are now closed for the Guardian and Observer Christmas charity appeal 2010 , which will support charities working with vulnerable teenagers and young adults. Many thanks to everyone who applied, or who encouraged charities to apply. Our Christmas charity 2010 partner New Philanthropy Capital (NPC) is now sifting through the 300 applications we received. A shortlist of projects will be submitted at the end of October to a selection panel comprising Guardian/Observer and NPC staff. We will be looking to choose 10 charities that are making a big impact on the lives of disadvantaged teenagers and young adults aged 13-24. They will have demonstrated in their application that they are passionate about the work they do, and can show how innovative and effective they have been. We will contact both successful and unsuccessful applicants once the panel has reached its decision in early November. The appeal will launch towards the end of November and run until mid-January.
