Every picture caption tells a story

Writing picture captions is often the least favourite task of newspaper subeditors, but one sub at Associated Newspapers has taken stating the bleeding obvious to a new extreme. In an article about flying ants plaguing Londoners on the Metro.co,uk website, the caption under a picture of an ant reads: "Flying ants are just like this one, but with wings." We now look forward to the caption "Yes, he is a Catholic" appearing under pictures of Pope Benedict XVI when he visits the UK in September.
