Tracking down a mystery freeholder
Q My daughter owns a leasehold flat in London and up to about a year ago, knew the name and address of the freeholder. She believes the freehold has been sold on but cannot get any information. She is anxious to be able to call the freeholder in the event of any major problem with the building. Is a freeholder obliged to provide name and contact details to leaseholders? BH A Your daughter should have contact details for the freeholder on her bills for ground rent and service charges. If these don't say who the freeholder is, she can ask whoever she makes payment to. Alternatively, she can contact the Land Registry to find out who the registered freeholder is.
