Legoland visitors freed from rides in power cut
Hundreds of children and adults had to be freed from more than 55 rides and other attractions after a power cut at the Legoland theme park in Windsor today. They included about 20 people stuck on the Aeronomad, a small ferris wheel with hot-air balloon capsules. They were freed by staff, after an aerial rescue ladder was requested from Berkshire fire and rescue service as a precaution, a spokeswoman for the attraction said. No one was injured in the incident, she said. She was unable to put a number on those in the park at the time, but it was busy because many children are on half-term. Rides were stopped for nearly three hours after an external contractor accidentally cut through a cable. Many families went home or could not enter the attraction, causing gridlock around the town. All of those affected have been given complimentary tickets for another visit, and a firework display planned for tonight has been put back to Sunday 7 November.
