Old and new

New build: Peacehaven, east Sussex. This attractive four-bedroom detached house has sea views from between the Coast Road and Cliff Top Promenade in Peacehaven. The kitchen/diner has been finished with granite worktops, while the three contemporary bathrooms (including two en suite) elevate this property well above its peers in the area. It also has parking for several vehicles, an NHBC guarantee and an alarm system. Peacehaven lies within the chalk cliffs of the South Downs, about six miles from Brighton. For sale at £325,000. This three-bedroom stone cottage has a few quirks that may deter some potential buyers, but the agent says with a lick of paint and new carpets, you will have a “gorgeous property” for a price that has already been dropped. The bathroom is on the ground floor next to the open-plan kitchen diner and sitting room, and the third dormer bedroom is accessed via a staircase that leads from one of the two bedrooms on the first floor. But the property is just 200 yards from the town centre and the harbour’s edge in a beautiful sailing town that author Daphne du Maurier chose to make her home. And there’s no chain. On the market for £249,500. May Whetter & Grose 01726 832299 Photograph: May, Whetter & Grose/PR Historic home: Meall Mo Chridhe, nr Applecross, Scotland. This fine-looking five-bedroom house, built in 1990 as a Free Church manse, must have one of the best views ever seen in a Guardian property gallery: it overlooks Camusterrach Bay to the islands of the inner Hebrides and mountains of Skye. The property has been renovated in the past few years and is used for B&B. Alternatively, you could just revert it to family use, and sit in peace in the summer house or on the flagged terrace with a fine malt to enjoy the views yourself. Offers over £350,000. CKD Galbraith 01463 224343 Photograph: CKD Galbraith/PR New build: Inkberrow, Worcestershire. This “futuristic lifestyle concept” offers open-plan living, a resin-bonded car deck with remote controlled car turntable, wood flooring throughout and luxury finishing – all within touching distance of Stratford-upon-Avon, Worcester, Redditch and Kidderminster. It’s up for a lot of money, but this remarkable home will have plenty of fans – particularly gadget geeks and James Bond devotees. On the market at £895,000. Andrew Grant Country Homes 01905 734735 Photograph: Andrew Grant Country Homes, PR Photograph: Andrew Grant Country Homes/PR Historic home: Illa d’en Colom. Menorca is lovely, but don’t you get just a little bit fed up fighting for a spot by the swimming pool, or waiting for a table at that cute little taberna? You can escape these tiresome problems by buying an entire island just 200m off the coast of Menorca. Illa d’en Colom is a 58-hectare islet which is part of the s’Albufera des Grau’s natural park and near the beautiful north-easterly Menorcan town of Es Grau. It has two beaches but both are public and do attract many visitors by boat and canoe. It is also the responsibility of the landowner to protect the unspoilt habitat and diverse wildlife, which includes a lizard found only on this island. And the large family home and outhouses have fallen into disrepair, so you are not going to be moving straight in. On the market for £5m. Bonnin Sanso 0034 971 350405 Photograph: Bonnin Sanso/PR
