Rangers and Celtic set to battle for signature of Derby's Kris Commons
Rangers and Celtic are set to go head-to-head to sign Kris Commons from Derby County this month. Commons is out of contract at the end of the season and Derby are bracing themselves for an approach from Rangers if Kenny Miller's transfer to the Turkish champions, Bursaspor, goes through, giving them the money to fund a bid. Celtic were hoping to sign Commons on a free transfer in the summer but their hand will be forced if Rangers try to broker a deal beforehand. Derby have matched Commons's salary demands but are realistic about their hopes of keeping the Scotland international in the face of interest from Rangers and Celtic.
