TV ratings: David Tennant drama draws 5.1m

The former Doctor Who David Tennant's return to BBC1, in the new drama series Single Father, managed an average of 5.1 million viewers last night, Sunday 10 October. The new four-part series, in which Tennant plays a single father living in Glasgow, attracted an 19.1% share of the audience on BBC1 and BBC HD in the 9pm slot. On ITV1, an average of 13.1 million viewers tuned in to The X Factor to watch Katie Waissel survive a showdown with the boyband FYD, who exited the show along with Nicola Festa. The X Factor managed a 46.2% share of viewers in the hour from 8pm. Over on BBC2, Dragons' Den: What Happened Next drew 1.1 million viewers, a 4% share, and Channel 4's Undercover Boss USA averaged 805,000 viewers and a 2.8% share. Despite losing an average of 700,000 viewers from last week, episode three of ITV1's period drama Downton Abbey maintained the biggest share of the 9pm audience with 8 million viewers, a 30.8% share. Last Sunday, Downton Abbey was watched by an average of 8.782 million viewers, a 33.2% share across ITV1 and ITV HD from 9pm, up from a combined audience of 7.685 million, a 30% share, for the launch episode the previous Sunday. Channel 5's showing of The Da Vinci Code at 9pm attracted 2.2 million viewers, an 11.9% audience share, up from 1.5 million viewers at the same time slot last Sunday.
