Beeny's Restoration Nightmare lays foundations with 2.2m

New Channel 4 series Beeny's Restoration Nightmare launched with just over 2.2 million viewers last night, Thursday 18 November. The property expert's attempt to turn a dilapidated stately home into a venue for wedding and events attracted an average audience of 2.253 million and a 9% audience share from 8pm. Another 297,000 watched an hour later on Channel 4 +1. Beeny was up against BBC1/BBC1 HD's Watchdog (4.471 million/17.9%), BBC2's Nigella Kitchen (1.737 million/7.1%) and Autumnwatch (1.885 million/7.4%, BBC HD 81,000/0.3%), ITV1/ITV1 HD's Coronation Street (9.102 million/37%) and I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! (8.684 million/34.4%), and Channel 5's The Virgin Queen's Fatal Affair: Revealed (676,000/2.7%). Elsewhere last night the second instalment of the second series of Misfits attracted 796,000 (4.4%) from 10pm on E4. This was down from last Thursday's 950,000 (5.4%) for the second series launch.
