West Bromwich Albion keen to sign James Beattie from Stoke City
West Bromwich Albion are considering a move for Stoke City's James Beattie. Stoke have been eager to offload Beattie ever since he clashed with Tony Pulis, the manager, in the dressing room at Arsenal in December, although Albion's hopes of signing him could rest on the striker being granted a free transfer despite having 12 months remaining on his contract at the Britannia Stadium. Beattie's fellow striker Ricardo Fuller will start talks on a new contract at Stoke when he returns from his summer break. The 30-year-old has two years left on his deal but claims other clubs have expressed an interest in signing him. "We will have talks when I get back," Fuller told the Jamaica Gleaner newspaper. "I have done really well and right now a lot of clubs are interested and are knocking on the door, so I'm looking forward to these talks when I get back in July. "I'm happy at Stoke and, if the talks go well, maybe I'll get another two-year deal and finish my career there."
