There has been no Fulham offer for Dave Jones, insist Cardiff City
Cardiff insist they have not received any approach from Fulham for their manager, Dave Jones. The Bluebirds manager is believed to be one of the frontrunners for the vacant position at Craven Cottage, after the club's top target, Martin Jol, agreed to remain in charge of Ajax. Jones, who has been linked to the job along with such figures as Mark Hughes and Alan Curbishley, led Cardiff to the play-off final in May and his success under difficult off-field circumstances in south Wales has also led to him being linked recently with vacancies at West Ham and Celtic. But a statement from Cardiff read: "Neither the club or the manager have received an approach from Fulham Football Club regarding the vacant manager's job at Craven Cottage. As ever, he is 100% concentrating on preparing the team for the new season." Meanwhile, the Cardiff chief executive, Gethin Jenkins, insists the Championship club are keen to resolve the issue surrounding outstanding finances owed to Motherwell as quickly as they can. The Scottish Premier League club yesterday demanded City settle a "substantial" overdue instalment of the transfer fee due for the defender Paul Quinn. The 24-year-old made the move to Wales last summer for a fee reportedly in the region of £300,000 but they claim an instalment due in January has still not been received. Jenkins said: "We are fully aware of the debt owed to Motherwell and we are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible."
