Clash bandmates to appear live with Gorillaz at Coachella

Former Clash bandmates Mick Jones and Paul Simonon will strengthen their reunion by appearing live together this weekend. The pair were last spotted together earlier this year playing on eponymous track from the Gorillaz album Plastic Beach, amid an epic rollcall of guest stars. It has now been revealed by US website Daily Swarm that the pair will appear as part of the Gorillaz live band at this weekend's Coachella festival in the Californian desert. The Damon Albarn-led cartoon hip-hop outfit are headliners at the event this Sunday (18 April). It is also being rumoured that the punk pair will warm up tomorrow night at radio station KROQ's Secret Coachella Dress Rehearsal, being held at a secret location. As coincidence would have it, the shows take place less than 100 miles from the last official Clash performance, in 1983 at a festival at Glen Helen Regional Park in San Bernadino. It is not known which other of Albarn's Plastic Beach collaborators will appear at Coachella or at this year's subsequent Gorillaz shows. Jones, however, recently reunited with the other surviving Clash member Topper Headon to re-record Jail Guitar Doors for a documentary about Billy Bragg's prison rehabilitation programme.
