The lows of being eight miles high

Once upon a time, air travel had somewhat glamorous associations. Jet-setting globetrotters could expect attentive cabin crew to provide them with blankets, food and alcoholic beverages as they tipped their seats back and waited for the in-flight movie. These days, however, with the advent of no-frills travel, passengers are likely to end up paying extra for any little comforts they require. Ryanair, the epitome of budget airlines, even plans to take things to extremes by introducing standing-only tickets and pay-toilets on its aircraft. However, all that pales into insignificance compared with the experience of travellers on a US Airways flight from Atlanta, which was forced back to the gate when maggots fell on to passengers from overhead lockers. We want to hear your bad in-flight experiences. What's the worst thing that's ever happened to you on a plane?
