MoD scraps £120m consultancy deal
A spokesperson for the MoD told GC News that after "careful consideration" it has decided not to go ahead with the framework agreement for consultancy and IT support (Facits), but did not give specific reasons for the termination. "Facits was designed to provide the opportunity for suppliers to tender for contracts as and when required by the MoD, and did not provide any guarantees regarding the volume and therefore value of the work," the spokesperson said. "It was never intended for the procurement of IT software or hardware. After careful consideration the MoD decided not to proceed with Facits, but a cross-government framework planned from October will offer further tendering opportunities for industry." The contract was was going to be split into six lots, each of which the MoD would have awarded to a minimum of three suppliers. The six lots covered: software development, implementation and support; business management consultancy; communications and network consultancy support; methodologies and standards including Prince2 project management; Oracle support; and end to end project management.
