TV ratings: Jack Duckworth farewell watched by nearly 11 million
Jack Duckworth's death helped boost the 8.30pm edition of Coronation Street to almost 11 million viewers last night, Monday 8 November. The episode featuring Bill Tarmey's final scenes as Duckworth , the popular character he played for 31 years, attracted an average of 10.969 million viewers and a 44.5% audience share on ITV1 and ITV1 HD. The high-definition channel's contribution to this audience was 370,000. Last night's 7.30pm Coronation Street performed just as well (ITV1/ITV1 HD: 10.835 million/44.5%). ITV1 HD's audience was 379,000. The two Corrie episodes were the two most-watched programmes yesterday, ahead of BBC1's EastEnders (9.795 million/38%) sandwiched between them at 8pm. Last Monday the 7.30pm edition of Corrie drew 10.04 million/40.6% and the 8.30pm episode 9.163 million/35.5%. ITV1's psychological thriller The Little House once again had the better of BBC1's Spooks in the 9pm Monday drama ratings battle. The concluding episode of the two-parter averaged 6.094 million viewers (23.3%) on ITV1 and ITV1 HD, while the final instalment of the ninth series of Spooks drew 5.359 million viewers (20.5%). Giles and Sue Live the Good Life – Giles Coren and Sue Perkins's attempt to recreate the self-sufficient lifestyle of the popular 1970s sitcom – launched with 2.268 million viewers (8.7%) on BBC2 from 9pm. Another 43,000 (0.2%) watched on BBC HD. 9pm competition included Channel 4 documentary series Coppers (2.649 million/10.1%, C4 +1 349,000/1.9%) and Channel 5's Extreme Fishing with Robson Green (1.452 million/5.5%).
