Spring deadline for reporting on major projects

All new projects will be subject to the regime from March 2011, says the document. The total savings realised from the renegotiation of contracts will be made public next May and the first annual report on major projects funded by the government will be published at the end of the year. The business plan , published on 8 November 2010, says that proposals to develop Whitehall-wide shared services for back office functions will be completed by March. It also discloses that by May separate departmental "academies" to support the simplification of front and back office services and reduce the cost of services, will be combined. However, the document reveals that the publication of the performance details of all ICT projects costing more then £1m has been delayed. This was due to have started in September. Similarly, guidance that ICT projects should not exceed £100m in total value, which should have been published in August, is also overdue.
