FIRST PRIZE: Live news. David Levene. A man walks past a barrow laden with corpses at the Grande Cimetière in Port-au-Prince, four days after the earthquake that struck Haiti on 12th January 2010. Death toll estimates following the disaster have ranged between 170,000 and 250,000 and in the days immediately after the earthquake so many dead bodies were dumped here that they ended up strewn throughout the avenues and walkways of the cemetery. The father of a child lying injured reads a small bible, in an outdoor compound of the Jean Damien children's hospital near to the American Embassy in Port-Au-Prince. David Levene. Young men trade tyres scavenged on Rue Pavée in downtown Port-au-Prince. So called 'looting' was generally over-reported by international media.
