Jeffrey Katzenberg | No 23

Studio executive: Chief executive of Dreamworks Animation The former Walt Disney chairman has long been one of the few studio executives who is a celebrity himself – thanks partly to a public spat with his former Disney boss, Michael Eisner, which ended in Katzenberg's resignation and a huge out-of-court settlement. He went on to be the K in Dreamworks SKG, which he co-founded in 1994 with Steven Spielberg and David Geffen. Dreamworks's commercial fortunes were variable, and it was eventually sold in 2005; its animation arm, however, has gone from strength to strength under Katzenberg, with recent hits such as Shrek Forever After , How to Train Your Dragon and Monsters vs Aliens . These are to be joined by the science-fiction comedy Megamind, a Kung Fu Panda sequel and the Shrek spin-off Puss in Boots . Like James Cameron, Katzenberg has been an enthusiastic cheerleader for the 3D future of cinema, and has declared that all DreamWorks animated features will be made in that format. A rumour has circulated that Katzenberg is looking to sell the production company, which has two years left on its distribution deal with Paramount. True or not, it won't affect Katzenberg's continuing position as one of Hollywood's most powerful and influential figures.
