Castleford close in on deal for disgraced Joel Monaghan

Castleford are expected to confirm the signing of the disgraced former Canberra and Australia centre Joel Monaghan later this week. Monaghan, a 27-year-old who was humiliated when pictures of him in a compromising position with a dog were published on Twitter, has agreed to link up again with the Tigers coach Terry Matterson, who was an influence on his development at Canberra. However he will only sign a one-year contract, leaving open the possibility of joining his elder brother Michael at Warrington next season. Michael Monaghan has been at Warrington since 2008.
