Celtic poised to sign Sunderland striker Daryl Murphy

Celtic are poised to complete a £1.5m deal for the Sunderland striker Daryl Murphy, Neil Lennon confirmed. The Celtic manager, whose team face Manchester United in Toronto on Saturday, said: "We are pretty close with Murphy from Sunderland. If we can get it done, he will come over here [to Canada]. "He is quick and tall. I watched him play a few years ago for Ireland in an end of season tour of America and have kept an eye on him ever since." Celtic will discover their opponents in the third qualifying round of the Champions League tomorrow with Zenit St Petersburg, Ajax, Fenerbahce, Dynamo Kiev or Braga lying in wait.
