Sol Campbell visits Celtic to see what's on offer

Celtic's pursuit of Sol Campbell stepped up today as the veteran defender travelled to Glasgow for talks. Campbell and his advisers spent time touring Celtic Park and the club's Lennoxtown training complex after meeting the manager Neil Lennon and the chief executive Peter Lawwell. While no deal is said to be imminent, the 35-year-old's willingness to view what is on offer in Scotland will give Lennon confidence. The defender is keen to hear from Arsenal, where he spent the latter part of last season, but any contract is unlikely to be for longer than a year while Celtic are willing to hand the former England international a two-year deal, believed to be worth about £20,000 a week. At least one other club has lodged an interest in him. Jimmy Bullard, of Hull City, is expected to make a similar visit within a week as he contemplates a one-year loan at Celtic.
