Liverpool launches bin text service
People can sign up by texting BINS, their house number and postcode to 62233. The council will then them a message telling them the day of their collection and which bins are to be put out. It will then send a reminder every week on the day before collection. If anyone feels they no longer need the reminder they can opt out by texting 'Stop bins' to the same number. The council said the text messages sent by users will be charged at standard network rates, but those they receive will be free of charge. Council leader Joe Anderson, said: "Most people have mobile phones, and text messaging is a great way to find out essential information. We all have busy lives, so it couldn't be easier getting a message to remind you to put out your bins."
