A nod to Kilmarnock's finest alt-rockers for their fifth album, and odds of 8/1 Photograph: PR Mumford and Sons – Sigh No More It's been a triumphant year for the London quartet, whose profile has risen along with their fanbase since the release of their debut album in October 2009. Odds are 6/1 Photograph: PR Wild Beasts – Two Dancers The Kendal band's second album impressed many critics, and was No 3 on last year's critics' poll of best albums. Odds are 8/1 Photograph: PR I Am Kloot – Sky at Night Will I Am Kloot 'do an Elbow'? The veteran Mancunian band are enjoying high praise for their fifth album. Odds are 10/1 David Sillitoe/The Guardian Photograph: David Sillitoe/The Guardian Foals – Total Life Forever The sophomore album by the Oxford-based band charted at No 8 in the UK but received mixed reviews. Clearly, the Mercury panel feel it deserves more. Odds are 8/1 Photograph: The Guardian Villagers – Becoming a Jackal The debut album from this largely unknown Irish indie-folkster (real name Conor J O'Brien) is on at 10/1 Photograph: PR Kit Downes Trio – Golden The requisite nod to a jazz act who received a four-star review from the Guardian's John Fordham.
