Bright light on dark arts I'm glad the focus is starting to shift from Coulson - although I have no time for his defence ( Fleet Street on trial , 24 January). The bigger story is News International and the police. Keep going with this, Guardian! It's time to start shining a very bright light into their relationship. It seems some are more equal than others when it comes to the rule of law. chesil12 online • Politicians of all parties have admitted openly in parliament that they are scared of the media. And if they are scared of the media then the media have the upper hand, not only in government and our legal system, but in defining our culture and society. The methodology, ownership and plurality of our media have to be challenged and our MPs need to show considerably more courage than they have demonstrated to date. They might learn something from Chris Bryant's attitude in his "interview" with Kay Burley. UnpublishedWriter online LoveFilm down the line I already use LoveFilm streaming on an internet-enabled Sony set ( Lovefilm deal could make every home a multiplex , 24 January). OK, take-up of this service is in its infancy, but it does exist. I expect they aren't pushing it harder because there are still wrinkles to iron out. I do hate it when the connection drops in the middle of the film, and you have to … find the spot [again]. But £10 a month for access to a few thousand films is a good deal, and it'll only get better in time. Dannyken online • I think the biggest hurdle streaming services face is the disparate state of broadband provision in the UK. Anyone suffering the "buffering" pain when watching our beloved BBC iPlayer service will testify that streaming really isn't suited to our infrastructure. djhworld online Local TV reception Yet another attempt by dopey politicians to Americanise Britain ( A picture at last, but still poor reception , 24 January). We aren't America, we're Britain. Auntie Beeb and ITV have served us well in the past. I don't want to see Big Brother on local TV channels, thank you very much. MindYerBeak online • How will this ever make enough revenue to fund itself? Hunt is deluded if he thinks this has legs commercially. The ad market is stretched enough as it is. Instead of launching a new service, make ITV up their game with local opt-outs and stop diluting the ad market. nervouspassenger online
