Plant of the week: Fritillaria meleagris
The bell-shaped flowers of Fritillaria meleagris hang on dainty stems. They're pretty from afar, but repay close inspection, with their intricate chequerboard markings. They do well in woodland conditions and look magical in long grass. Buy 50 bulbs for £9.95, or 100 for £17.90; prices include UK mainland p&p. Call 0330 333 6851, quoting ref GUPW248, or visit our Readers' Offer page . Delivery from mid-September.
