Evan Christopher: The Remembering Song
Since before jazz even existed, New Orleans has boasted generations of liquid-toned clarinet players, a legacy of its old French culture. Although not a native of the city, Evan Christopher has adopted the tradition and made it his own. This loving tribute to New Orleans combines his tuneful compositions with a few nostalgic old songs from the early years of last century, emphasising his gentle, warm tone and lithe technique. The simple accompaniment of two guitars and bass is just right. It includes the fine veteran guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli.
