Three Irish weeklies closed down

Three free weeklies in Ireland - the Sligo, Meath and Cavan Posts - were closed down this week by their owner, River Media. Some 37 staff will lose their jobs. The same company, which recently closed the Leitrim Post , Wicklow News and Monaghan Post , explained that it was due to the advertising downturn. Sources: Irish Times /BBC Radio Foyle
