George Lamb to front Spotify show

Former 6 Music DJ George Lamb has joined Spotify to front a new show sponsored by Starbucks. Lamb will be reunited with his former 6 Music sidekick, Marc Hughes, for the Starbucks Doubleshot Show in which listeners choose a pair of songs relating to the same album or artist. Lamb and Hughes provide "refreshing banter" between the tracks, says the site. Lamb split listener opinion on 6 Music and was said by Paul Gambaccini to be responsible for the "worst interview in the history of broadcasting". The pair announced their departure from the station in May saying they had been "reviewing our situation for some time and we've always looked for opportunities to maximise the show's potential". The 30-minute weekday show will run for four weeks on Spotify, produced by independent production company Somethin' Else. • To contact the MediaGuardian news desk email [email protected] or phone 020 3353 3857.
