Trevor Dann to step down as Radio Academy chief
The Radio Academy chief executive, Trevor Dann, is to step down after four years to take up a new role at digital broadcaster Amazing Radio and return to programme-making. Dann, a former senior executive at the BBC who won a Bafta for his work producing the Live Aid concert in 1985, will step down from the cross-industry body at the end of next month. He will become managing director of broadcast at the Amazing Media Group, which owns and operates national digital audio broadcasting (DAB) station Amazing Radio , which he said had "big plans" for the future. Dann will also produce a series of programmes, expected to be for the BBC, and will become visiting professor at an as-yet-unannounced university. He is also planning to write a book. "I'll miss the Academy but I think four years is long enough away from programme-making," said Dann. He will continue to present the Radio Academy podcast, RadioTalk . • To contact the MediaGuardian news desk email [email protected] or phone 020 3353 3857.
