Let's have a banker appreciation day
For those in the dark about it, Thursday was "world lighting appreciation day" according to General Electric, which urged the masses to tweet light-related pictures including images of "favourite lamps and light fixtures". GE's excuse was that it was the 131st anniversary of Thomas Edison's invention of light bulbs, of which the American corporation sells an awful lot nowadays. It's fair to say that the stunt didn't make Twitter's top "trending" terms, although a few eccentrics posted pictures of Hallowe'en decorations and elaborately illuminated household pets. Still, maybe other industries could take a leaf out of GE's book. How about Goldman Sachs inaugurating a world banking appreciation day? Tweet your favourite pictures of a collateralised debt obligation?
