Cyber attacks halt 'Spending Challenge' website
The halting of interactive features on the site , which encourages UK citizens to submit ideas about spending cuts, means people cannot currently view ideas sent in to the treasury. Previously ideas for cuts would appear on the site for other users to vote for and comment on. A spokesperson for the department told GC News that interactive areas on the site "have been taken down" and confirmed that normal service had not yet resumed. She was unable to confirm how long inactivity would continue. A notice published on the website on 16 July 2010 said: "As you may have noticed, the site has been the subject to a small number of malicious attacks so we have unfortunately had to pause on the interactive features for now, but we're still keen to hear any further ideas you have, which we may publish at a later date."
