Stornoway: Beachcomber's Windowsill

Stornoway (who are from Oxford, rather than the Outer Hebrides) release their debut following months of hype; they were the first unsigned band to appear on Later… with Jools Holland and the subject of countless "hotly tipped" lists. Their catchy melodies and lush harmonies see them poised to fill the cheery folk-pop slot of the summer airwaves but, as talented multi-instrumentalists, the four-, sometimes six-piece, convey an emotional depth that transports their music from throwaway sunny songs to something altogether more poignant and enduring.
