The X Factor and Downton Abbey push ITV1 to ratings high
ITV1 enjoyed its most successful Sunday evening of the year as the X Factor pulled in 14.9 million viewers and the Downton Abbey finale attracted an more than 10 million last night, Sunday 7 November. Last night's results show, which saw Treyc Cohen eliminated from the show as judge Cheryl Cole controversially refused to cast a vote, attracted an average audience of 14.9 million and a 50% share of all TV viewing in the 8pm slot. The show had a peak of more than 16 million viewers, according to unoffical overnight figures, with ITV claiming that the figure was 16.7 million with the inclusion of ITV1 HD. The final of the first series of drama Downton Abbey attracted 10.1 million viewers and a 37.7% share the 9pm to 10.30pm slot. Julian Fellowes's acclaimed drama has already been recommissioned for another series .
