Sun's 3D issue to kick off World Cup coverage
The Sun will offer readers a one-off 3D edition on Saturday, 5 June, featuring specially converted pictures across content including Page 3 and the Bizarre column. Readers will be given a pair of 3D glasses with that day's paper, which the Sun is billing as the start of its football World Cup coverage. The World Cup begins the following Friday, 11 June. Pictures and ads used in the 5 June paper "will be specially converted for 3D viewing", according to the Sun. Readers will also be able to see the 3D pictures on the Sun website. Page 3, Bizarre and the Street Chic fashion pages will get the 3D treatment. The Sun will also be giving away a 3D World Cup wall chart on 5 June. Ian Rees, head of trading for Sun publisher News Group Newspapers, said "a number of profile clients from the telecoms, travel and retail sectors" had signed up to advertise in 3D in the 5 June edition. • To contact the MediaGuardian news desk email [email protected] or phone 020 3353 3857.
