Capgemini signs MoU with Cabinet Office

Further to discussions with Cabinet Office minister and chair of the Efficiency and Reform Group Francis Maude about cost cutting, the company announced that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding. It said on 13 September 2010 that all existing contracts will continue to be delivered as planned, but that it had also "presented a range of new business opportunities to enable the commitment of savings to HM government". "In addition, Capgemini has also put together an extensive menu of new innovative proposals, which would further improve the efficiency of government," said the company. Pierre-Yves Cros, Capgemini's UK country board chair, said: "Capgemini has responded to the request to help government meet their short term challenge and we have also put forward cross-government solutions, which will help achieve an efficient joined-up government in future." Capgemini's biggest public sector deal is the £8bn Aspire contract with HM Revenue and Customs. Aspire, which will run until June 2017, has already been restructured resulting in 600 redundancies at Capgemini.
